Icon17 The Mothman

The first sighting of The Mothman dates back to 1966, a strange creature like a man having wings, had been seen in the West Virginia area of America. Coined by an Ohio newspaper, the creature was named Mothman due to its large wing like structures, with no head and eyes sunken into the chest.

The mystery of the Mothman has still been unresolved as there have been no logical explanations to the sightings of the strange creature. As per the witnesses that are sure of the existence of the Mothman, they believe that they saw something and this cannot be related to any animal or any other living creature. The creature had glowing red eyes and was nearly seven to eight feet tall with large wings.

As for the explanations related to the incidents, there are logical explanations for some of these sightings. As per reports, the sightings of the Mothman could be related to seeing owls flying around at night and as the people were spooked about the Mothman, they believed to have seen it too. However some of the witnesses were credible enough to have stated otherwise.

There are other theories as well that link the strange happenings of Point Pleasant in West Virginia to the UFO sightings. Even Mothman was considered an unexplained creature that could be behind the strange lights, the “men in black”, the sounds and most importantly the collapse of the Silver Bridge. As per John Keel who believed that Mothman was for real pointed out that being a “window” area, Point Pleasant was prone to strange happenings and the weird instances that took place in the area could be caused by supernatural powers.

Whatever the theories, there have been many hypotheses presented on the account of the Mothman. Some of these were cases of coincidence or misidentification while others seemed to be paranormal. Therefore the mystery of the Mothman stays as are there are no evidences other than the witnesses’ account to vouch for the Mothman being present.

So what do you think regarding this unsolved tale? Is the mothman an extra terrestrial can the story be easily explained as a wild bird of some kind or is there something more paranormal to this tale?
